Endodontics

Endodontics is a specialty of dentistry that deals with diseases of the dental pulp (the chamber within the tooth containing the nerve and blood vessels) and its supporting structures. The purpose of endodontic treatment is to preserve a tooth so that it can continue to function in the mouth. The most common endodontic procedure is root canal treatment which removes inflamed or infected pulp tissue from the tooth that has been damaged by deep decay, infection or fracture.

Although having a tooth removed may seem like a quicker, easier and cheaper choice, it can lead to complications later on that can compromise future treatment possibilities. In addition, options to replace the missing tooth often take longer to provide such as dental implants and bridges, have a limited life-span and tend to be more expensive in the long run. There is nothing better than having your own tooth – nothing else looks, feels and functions as well as a natural tooth.
